The Stress of Decoupage

Steps to successful decoupaging:
  1. Purchase pretty paper
  2. Cut pretty paper
  3. Glue pretty paper on stuff.
Easy, right?!  Wrong.  Once again, Martha Stewart makes everything look so damn easy (I will never be as good as Martha Stewart.)  I mean really.  Well who knew that decoupage was kind of nightmarish?  It didn't help that we held this craft day on Cinco de Mayo.  I mean who wants to craft when all you can think about is margaritas?!  Anyway, as what happens with all of our crafts, the stress and frustration that goes into the creative stage always winds up producing something beautiful.  I am in the company of some truly talented ladies:

April's Project

April was rough for crafting.  I had craftersblock and settled on not one but two crafts for the month, snowglobes and an oldie but a goodie - perler beads.  My indecision stemmed from my inability to find a damn figurine for the snowglobes.  This seemed to be the problem for the other ladies as well, and most of us settled on the perler bead craft.  As I tried (and failed) to create something, I remembered that I had a most perfect snowglobe appropriate figurine, a tiny elephant that my best friend had brought back from India for me.  Then voila!  My snowglobe was born.  Check out the other globes (AH-MAH-ZING!) and perler bead creations (LOVE!)......

Easter

So I'm officially a terrible blogger.  Maybe someday I can actually post things with some timeliness, but knowing me that's probably never going to happen.  That being said, March's crafts were dedicated to Easter and the ancient art of egg dying.  The Wenches gathered eggs and got to dying.  So fun!

Notice the ubiquitous glass of wine :)

So many eggs!

My best friend's birthday

This past weekend was my best friend Kelsey's birthday, a night of laughter, bar hopping, dancing, drinking, eating....overall shenanigans.
The beautiful ladies
The whole night was a blast, and I got to give her a special present that blew the previous years presents out of the water.  See, every year I give Kelsey a handmade card but this year between moving and schoolwork I just ran out of time to put together an awesome card.  Instead I painstakingly created something that I'm not sure I'll be able to top next year, a customized Guess Who game.  Check it out....
Happy Birthday Kelsey!!

The Beginning....

One of my New Year's resolutions was to spend more time with my girlfriends and be more crafty so I decided to start a craft club with my best ladies.  I have a special place in my heart for gaudy and kitschy things, so we call ourselves "Kitsch Wenches".  I planned on making this blog back in January to document the creations of my fellow Wenches, however as I am a rampant procrastinator here it is March and I'm just now getting around to creating this blog. Anyway, here is what we've been up to the past couple months:

January
First club get-together I tried to keep it simple with this awesome big script art craft I stumbled upon. The ladies and I gathered some supplies, snacks, and wine, and got to work.

February
I have been obsessed with the galaxy trend that first popped up in Christopher Kane's 2011 collection (if you haven't seen it, check it out here.  Do it now, it's amazing), so for our second craft I set out to recreate the trend.  Not gonna lie, this was a little intimidating but everything came out so fantastic.
Supplies are so simple!

The whole galaxy

I have so many more ideas, and can't wait to see what the future has in store for our little group!  Hope you enjoy the journey with us! :)
